I LOVE YOU!!!!!!! FOREVER!!!!!!!

John Gamberg

June 25, 2008

After listening to the "Living Together" lp
while copying it to cd, I thought I'd see if I could find any info about it online. I
have always liked the album. My favorite
cut is "Layin' In Your Arms(Before the Sunrise)", and I have put it on countless
compilation tapes and cds of my all time
favorite songs over the years. The way I
acquired the album is interesting. I was
waiting in a gas line during the gas crisis
shortages in the mid seventies. A Hare Krishna member comes up and and asks if I
want to make a donation with my choice of several records as their appreciation. I
chose "Fire and Rain". I consider that
very good luck to this day. So I'll just
say thanks for the music. By the way, I'm
62 and spent my teenage years in SoCal
listening to KFWB and KRLA.

I just wanted to say how glad I was to find your web site. I mean its only been about 40 years or so since I last saw you. I have some unequalled childhood memories of The Grodes and The Dearly Beloved. Its nice to know that while things could have gone better for you that at least things were not all bad. I was very happy to learn that you stuck with the music. Some of your stuff is very good and I enjoyed listening to it. Listening to the Grodes tracks sure took me back. I look forward to hearing of another reunion and a chance to see the old group together again. The old photos are great...reminded me of places I had all but forgotten about. Its great to see that you have found happiness with your family. Well I just wanted to let you know that I remember the days.....Take Care

I read your complete bio from end to end. What a trip. I never touched a guitar until I was due to graduate from high school. My favorite chords were E, A and D, later augmented with C, F and G. Barring the F was next to impossible on my Harmony acoustic which I later sold to Martha Schwartzman for $25. My late start with music put me a couple of years behind your progress, but a couple of names rang a bell. Pete Peterson was our first drummer for a group called the Turtles (formed in Tucson before the real Turtles showed up). If it was the same guy, he was 3 to 5 years younger than us, with longish blonde hair and lived near Kenyon and Camino Seco. I believe his dad was a Baptist Preacher. We had the Farfisa. I remember Copper State and what may have been Audio in Phoenix. We did a couple of 45s and a demo for Johnnie's Drive-In. I remember the Hustlers, but I can't remember if Paul Malanga or Ron Heinrichs was involved. Unfortunately, I never got to see the Grodes. I never knew who Linda Ronstadt was in high school but I knew Shep Cooke. I think Chas Waldman was responsible for him being called "Shep" for his shaggy hair. I spent a brief time with a group called the Sotweed Factor at the U of A. It was a Yardbirds meet Bluegrass effort. I ended up with a group called the Cynics that was fairly successful as a cover band doing small tours of Southern Arizona. It was responsible for our only appearance on any of the charts, barely making it into the top 40 in Tucson, but for some reason #2 in Casa Grande. Being a starving student and wasting 2 years discovering I would die of boredom as an accountant propelled me out of school and the music and into the job market and marriage. I spent 30 years as a Firefighter for the City of Tucson and helped my wife Linda raise 3 girls into contributing members of society. Maybe 15 years ago I decided to either really learn to play or sell my old equipment. I still had a '66 Mosrite and a '61 Fender Concert. I took a few classes (Parks and Rec. Blues Guitar) and a summer of one-on-one with a Tommy Tucker. I also began jamming with Barry Briggs from our class at Catalina. One of the instructors for P and R was Mark Buglewics who I invited to our jams. I knew a drummer from the fire department and a bass player from playing softball. At one of our sessions Mark stated his wife Jamie could sing (I've heard that before!). He brought her to the next session and she was scary good. We started her of on a cover of It's So Easy and she nailed it. Blue Bayou stunned all of us; we all looked around to see if Linda Ronstadt had entered the room. She became part of the group now known as Second Chance and we have been playing out going on 9 years doing clubs, parties and weddings. It's been a blast and my regrets are that I didn't get serious sooner and that we don't have more material recorded. I hope to keep doing it until my fingers quit. I wouldn't tell anyone I'm a good guitar player; I bet there are more than a 100 players right here in Tucson who could blow me right into the weeds. I can hold my own and concentrate on playing cleanly and tastefully. I enjoyed reading your bio and hope to see you again at one of our reunion functions.

Having grown up in Tucson was a friend of Dearly Beloved and talk to Shep and Tom quite regularly. Also saw and enjoyed the Grodes very much. Also was in several classes at Palo Verde with your brother. Now living in Phoenix and have a band of my own would love to hear some of the war stories from Tucson in the 60's. Especially any memories you may have of Larry Cox. or even any photos? Also know Lee Joesph and have both albums of The Grodes and Dearly Beloved. Anyway Thanks for the music and memeories. Chip

I thought highly your CD and it has occurred to me that YOU would be the ideal artist to write lyrics for a sonata of mine. The only word I have so far is 'moonlight.' At this point, inspiration eludes me -- plus my hearing isn't what it used to be. Please let me know if you're interested. The King says there's publishing in it for you.

Thanks,

I'm looking for a gig, and I noticed that you don't have a sax player. My bag is blues and rock, and I think I'd fit right in. I'm great on the road -- I can live on Big Macs and groupies indefinitely. AND I have connections -- I live with the next President. We could for sure play the inauguration. Is that groovy -- or what?!

Dear Manny

As you know from the old days, we RARELY write letters TOGETHER, but your music has us worked up. We've done it all -- but we are now proposing to you what we consider to be the biggest venture of our combined lives: a new label -- but instead of it being called A&M, it'll just be AM -- which stands for ALL MANNY! In addition to recording releasing ONLY your music, the merchandising would include Manny-shaped limited release clear vinyl discs as well as scratch and sniff, Manny-smelling promotional CDs.Etc. Etc. We envision a movie, simply entitled MANNY. The possibilities are seemingly endless.

Think it over. Done? Then call!

You've got to help me. I have trouble finding anonymity but, since this seems to be a place that NOBODY is likely to find, I thought I could bare my soul to you.

I'm supposed to be marrying this guy soon -- I'm already pregnant -- and I just can't STAND the guy. He just 'AIN'T all that,' if you know what I mean. And he thinks he's pretty cool.

I just need to talk with someone. I found myself very attracted to your picture, and feel you'd be someone who could understand -- and accept ALL of me.

Can we set up a coffee date?

Love,
Lina
ps. Do you know of more kids I could adopt? I'm just trying to lose my fiancee in a crowd.

Just happened upon your website and wondered -- I have some used underwear that I'm selling on eBay. Would you be interested in buying some? To be honest, the variety of colors is limited, but these shorts have stood the test of Tom -- I mean time.

If interested, Email me at Irving@Incognito.dot

Manny, you worm,

As difficult as it is, I must now confess my jealousy of your music all those years that we worked together. The the only reason I belittled it is that it took you away from me, you _____ of a _____. You never seemed to notice my longing -- my LUST. I mean, how much can one man take, you scum sucker?!

I miss you, babe -- and those times when we protected eacxh other from that monster, Jerry Kasenetz. And I've decided to use EXCLUSIVELY your songs for my next blockbuster. It's the least I can do for the years of friendship that we shared at the U of A -- not to mention the fact that your music has just gotten even more amazing over the years.

Let's do lunch. I'll have my people call your person.
